Summary
Amid tensions with Ukraine, Russian military said in a statement that five members of a group sabotaging Russia’s border violations had been killed, but Ukraine denied this.
Amid tensions with the neighboring country, the Russian military said on Monday it had killed five destroyers entering Russia’s border with Ukraine. Russia’s new claim is fueling tensions along Moscow’s border with Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine has denied this claim of Russia.
Western countries don’t trust Russia
The report comes as Kiev and Washington have accused Russia of plotting to conduct fake Ukrainian strikes to facilitate their work under the pretext of an attack. The Kremlin has already sent thousands of troops around Ukraine’s borders, which Ukraine’s western allies fear could lead to a massive attack. The military said in a statement that five people from a group that violated Russia’s border and destroyed it have been killed. The army said that the incident happened near the village of Mityakinskaya in the Rostov area.
Russia said, no harm to our soldiers
The army said there were no casualties among Russian troops or border guards. It said that two Ukrainian military vehicles had entered the Russian border to evacuate the vandals. The head of Russia’s investigative committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered an investigation into the incident. Earlier on Monday, Moscow said a shell fired from Ukraine destroyed a border post used by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
The FSB said a state of emergency was declared last week over the possibility of civilians entering the rebel-controlled areas in the southern Rostov region where the shelling took place, whose leaders ordered evacuations.
