Patiala. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab unit president Sunil Jakhar on Thursday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save the ‘breed and crop’ of Punjab. He said that only a strong leadership at the Center and Chandigarh can save the future of the state. Before Modi addressed an election rally held in Patiala, Jakhar said that ‘today’s Punjab is not like that. The people of Punjab are looking at you with hopeful eyes.
Jakhar said that the Congress’s dishonest state unit has completely ‘surrendered’ to the Aam Aadmi Party at the cost of Punjab and there is currently no leadership in the state and whatever is left is nothing but a mockery. Highlighting the various farmer-friendly initiatives and schemes of the Modi government, Jakhar said that every grain of crop produced by farmers in Punjab is being purchased by the Centre.
Jakhar said, ‘But some vested interest elements have disguised themselves as farmers and are playing into the hands of AAP and Congress. He talks about democratic methods but does not contest elections and once contested elections, but his deposit was confiscated.
