The artists of Chhatarpur and Rajsamand gave the message of staying connected with nature and traditions

The artists of Chhatarpur and Rajsamand made sculptures centered on the epic Kumarasambhava, composed by the great poet Kalidas, from the clay of the courtyard of Mahakal. He has tried to give the message of being connected with nature and traditions to the new generation through idols. 72-year-old artist Dhanraj Kumhar (Dadu Bhai) has said that the graph of our happiness will rise only when we enrich our glorious traditions, promote and preserve nature.
The sculptures have been made in the 14-day Samarsata Kala Shivir organized in the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy campus. The specialty of this camp is that students from four universities (Vikram University, Devi Ahilya University, Maharishi Panini and Sanskrit University and Bundelkhand University) had come to take training. Dr. Yogeshwari Firojia, Deputy Director of Kalidas Sanskrit Academy told that Samarsata Kala Shivir has been organized for the conservation and promotion of the vanishing traditional terracotta sculpture. In this, Tikaram Prajapati of Chhatarpur, Nonelal Prajapati, Mohan Prajapati, Dhaniram Prajapati and Narayan Kumhar of Rajsamand Rajasthan have made idols centered on Kumarasambhavam from yellow clay. All the idols have been made. The camp will end on Monday at 3.30 pm. The guest will be Bhopal’s senior painter Devilal Patidar and sculptor Kirtisingh Thakur. The public will be able to see these idols.

Will put on display in Kalidas Academy premises
Director-in-charge of the Academy, Dr. Santosh Pandya told that all the idols will be kept in the Academy premises. These idols do not deteriorate over the years. Terracotta art is one of the famous handicrafts of Rajasthan. In this, the art of making sculptures etc. by using clay is known as terracotta.
