Anand Mahindra News: Industrialist Anand Mahindra is considering to open Medical College. He has asked CP Gurnani, Managing Director and CEO, Tech Mahindra to work on it. Anand made a tweet on Thursday. Said that I was not aware that there is such a problem of medical colleges in the country. He further wrote, ‘CP Gurnani, can we consider opening a medical institute on the campus of Mahindra University.’
Fees higher in private colleges
Let us tell you that Anand Mahindra’s tweet has come at such a time. When thousands of Indian medical students are stranded in Ukraine. To bring them safely from there, the government has started ‘Operation Ganga’. According to media reports, every year Indian students go abroad for medical studies due to less number of medical colleges in the country and expensive fees in private colleges. According to one figure, there are about 18,000 Indian medical students in Ukraine. Apart from this, 23 thousand Indian students are studying medicine in China and about 16 thousand in Russia.
16 lakh candidates appeared for NEET exam
According to the National Medical Commission, there are about 605 medical colleges in India. In which there are 90,825 MBBS seats. In the year 2021, about 16 lakh candidates had appeared for NEET for admission to these seats. About 97% of children do not get admission in medical colleges. Due to this, students have to go to study in Ukraine, Russia, China, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia etc. countries. Fees in these countries are less as compared to private colleges in India.
I had no idea that there was such a shortfall of medical colleges in India. @C_P_Gurnani could we explore the idea of establishing a medical studies institution on the campus of @MahindraUni , https://t.co/kxnZ0LrYXV

no more fees
After Anand Mahindra’s tweet, many users called it a good move. Said that a large number of students from India go abroad to study medicine not only because of lack of seats, but studying in India is also expensive. Regarding this, a user requested Mahindra to take care of the fees in his institute. On this, Anand Mahindra said that he will take care.
