Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya was allegedly attacked by Shiv Sena workers outside Khar police station in Mumbai when he had gone to meet Independent MP from Amravati Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana on Saturday night. Shiv Sena workers allegedly pelted stones at Kirit Somaiya’s vehicle, injuring him.
The BJP leader said, “Mumbai police refused to register my FIR. They filed a fake FIR stating that only one stone was thrown. 70-80 Shiv Sainiks attacked me, Khar Police did not take any action despite information.”
An FIR has been registered and investigation is on, a Mumbai Police official said.
Kirit Somaiya also alleged that CM Uddhav Thackeray tried to kill him and the attack was the third attempt. “This was the third attempt by Uddhav Thackeray to take my life. First there was an attack in Washim, then Pune and now Khar,” he said.
In a tweet, Kirit Somaiya said that he was at Bandra Police Station and would stay in his car there till action is taken against police officers and ‘mafia army goons’.
Meanwhile, BJP workers reached Bandra police station and raised slogans against CM Uddhav Thackeray. Former Maharashtra CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis tweeted a video of Kirit Somaiya and said that the law and order situation in Mumbai and Maharashtra has collapsed.
MLA Ravi Rana and his wife Independent MP Navneet Rana were arrested in Mumbai on Saturday. The MP-MLA couple had reached Mumbai and threatened to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree, the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
