Heavy business seen in banking and financial stocks, 0.4 percent jump in Nifty 50
Mumbai, July 6 (IANS)| The BSE Sensex hit a new record high of 53,129.37 on Tuesday afternoon and Nifty 50 traded near its all-time high on the National Stock Exchange. Heavy trading was witnessed in banking and financial stocks. Around 2.15 pm, the Sensex was trading at 53,116.73, registering 236.73 points or 0.45 per cent higher than its previous close of 52,880.00. NSIt opened at 52,874.85 and has recorded an intra-day low of 52,805.88 points so far.
Nifty 50 is trading 62.75 points or 0.4 per cent higher at 15,897.10 from its previous close. It has touched the day’s high of 15,914.20. The all-time high of Nifty is 15,915.65 points. UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers in the Sensex, while Tech Mahindra, TCS and NTPC were among the top losers.
