Pakistani Man Killed By Mob
Peshawar: In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Swat district, a mob angry over alleged desecration of the Quran killed a person. Eight people were injured in the violence that ensued. Giving information about the incident, Swat’s district police officer Zahidullah said that a man from Punjab’s Sialkot had allegedly burnt some pages of the Quran in Swat’s Madyan tehsil on Thursday night.

Zahidullah said that the suspect was taken into custody and brought to Madyan police station. A crowd gathered outside the police station and demanded to hand over the suspect. When the police refused to do so, someone from the crowd opened fire, after which the police retaliated. He said that one person was seriously injured in the firing from both sides, who was admitted to Madyan hospital.

Heavy police force deployed
The officer said that the mob then set the police station on fire. Later some people entered the police station and shot the suspect. He said that after shooting, they dragged the body of the suspect to Madyan Adda and hanged it there. The officer said that eight people were injured in the violence that broke out due to the incident. He said that heavy police force has been deployed in Madyan and efforts are being made to bring the situation under control.
CM took cognizance of the incident
KPK Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the provincial police chief. The Chief Minister directed to take emergency measures to control the situation and urged people to remain calm. (Language)
