The government is seriously considering this. For a long time, there was a demand to give the status of a national scripture to the Gita. According to the channel, the central government is taking opinion from the ministries in this regard.
Gopal Shetty, BJP MP from Maharashtra, had written a letter to the government demanding recognition of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita as a national scripture. Gopal wrote this letter on July 5 this year. In a letter sent to Home Minister Amit Shah, he had urged to declare Gita as a national scripture. It is reported that Shah has sent a reply to this letter to Gopal Shetty on 18 July. He has written that the concerned ministries have been directed to send it to take necessary steps on your letter. Under Secretary Renu Suri in the Home Minister’s office has given information about this on August 1. At present, according to the information, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought the opinion of the Ministry of Education regarding the recognition of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita as a national book. The Education Ministry has sent its opinion on 10 August. At the same time, now the opinion has been sought from the Ministry of Culture.
The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a part of the epic Mahabharata. It contains the teachings of Lord Krishna to Arjuna in Kurukshetra during the Mahabharata war.
