The 10 districts where elections are to be held in the sixth phase are Gorakhpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Ballia, Balrampur, Basti, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar and Siddharth Nagar. This time Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself is in the electoral fray from Gorakhpur.
SP ahead in giving tickets to leaders with criminal image
The Samajwadi Party has given tickets to leaders with 83% criminal image in 57 seats in the sixth phase. Even in the first four phases, the maximum number of candidates of the Socialist Alliance were tainted. In the fifth phase, the Congress had become ahead in this matter, while the Samajwadi Party was at number two. BJP is at number two in giving tickets to tainted leaders in the sixth phase. 44% of BJP candidates have criminal background. Congress is at number three, BSP at fourth and Aam Aadmi Party at fifth. Congress and BSP have fielded 39-39% this time, while AAP has fielded 14% tainted candidates.
- Eight candidates have been booked for harassment against women under different sections.
- Two candidates have been accused of raping a woman. Among them Irfan Ahmed is contesting from Tanda seat of Ambedkar Nagar from AIMIM and the other is Samajwadi Party candidate Krishna Bhan from Paniyara seat of Maharajganj.
- 23 candidates have been booked for attempt to murder under section 307.
- Of the 57 seats to be contested, 37 are those that fall in the Red Alert Zone. This means that three or more candidates have criminal cases registered against them in these seats.

Congress state president Ajay Kumar Lallu himself is in the fray from Tamkuhi Raj of Kushinagar. Ajay Lallu is at number one in the list of tainted candidates for the sixth phase. A total of 29 cases are registered against Ajay. A total of 97 different sections are engaged, out of which 19 are serious sections.
2. Sudhir Singh (BSP) : Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Sudhir Singh is second in the list of tainted candidates from Sahjanwa seat of Gorakhpur. Sudhir has a total of 26 criminal cases registered against him. A total of 46 different streams are engaged. Of these, 27 sections are serious.
3. Mohammad Ayub (Peace Party) : Mohammad Ayub, who is contesting on a Peace Party ticket from Khalilabad seat in Sant Kabir Nagar, has 19 criminal cases registered against him. There are 36 different streams.
4. Ashok Chauhan (Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party) Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party candidate Ashok Chauhan is jointly third in the list of tainted candidates. Ashok has a total of 19 criminal cases registered against him. A total of 61 sections have been imposed, out of which 23 are serious. In the sixth phase, out of 676 candidates, 253 are crorepatis. His assets are one crore or more. Samajwadi Party has the highest number of 94% candidates in this list. At number two, 81% of BJP candidates are crorepatis. In this case, BSP is at number three, Congress is at number four and Aam Aadmi Party is at number five. BSP’s 44%, Congress 26 and Aam Aadmi Party’s 14% candidates are crorepatis. The average assets of the candidates is Rs 2.10 crore.

1. Vinay Shankar: Samajwadi Party candidate Vinay Shankar from Chillupar seat of Gorakhpur is the richest among the candidates of the sixth phase. Vinay has total assets of Rs 67 crore.
2. Rakesh Pandey : Samajwadi Party candidate Rakesh Pandey from Ambedkar Nagar’s Jalalpur seat has assets worth Rs 63 crore. Rakesh is at number two in the list of rich candidates.
3. Umashankar Singh : Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Umashankar Singh is at number three in the list of rich candidates from Rasra seat of Ballia. Umashankar has total assets of Rs 54 crores.

- 155 candidates are graduates, while 234 candidates have studied from class 5th to 12th.
- The age of 226 candidates is between 25 to 40 years. 346 candidates in the age group of 41 to 60 are in the fray.
- This time only 65 women are contesting the elections.
- The Congress has given 39% of the maximum tickets to women. BJP has given tickets to only six and SP has given tickets to 10 per cent women.
