After the outbreak of rain and strong winds, the weather has become quite pleasant in Delhi-NCR and North-West India. People have got relief from the scorching heat and heat wave. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over most parts of Northwest and Central India today. Here the temperature may increase by 2-3 degree Celsius. In the rest of the country, the maximum temperature will be around 40 degree Celsius.
There is hope for two-three more relief from the outbreak of heat wave. However, heatwave may intensify in some parts of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and MP. During the next 5 days, scattered to widespread rain/thundershowers are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Also, scattered or moderate rains may occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha. During this time the winds can also move at high speed.
No chance of heat wave this week
The national capital witnessed pleasant weather on Thursday with the minimum temperature settling at 22.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. It was raining in some parts of Delhi on Wednesday evening. The Meteorological Department said that there is no possibility of heat wave this week. According to the IMD, hot winds are declared as ‘loo’ when the temperature in the plains is more than 40 degrees Celsius or 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal. A ‘severe heatwave’ is declared when the temperature is 6.4 degrees above normal.
Thunderstorm may occur in some parts of UP
After strong wind and storm water in many areas of UP, people have got relief from the heat. JP Gupta, director of the Lucknow-based meteorological station, said that due to southeast winds, this change has come in the weather. Similar weather is likely to continue in the state for the next three-four days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms at some places in the eastern parts of the state during the next 24 hours. At the same time, there is a possibility of light rain at some places in the state during the next 48 hours.
