What are exit polls?
Exit poll is a kind of quick survey after the polling. In this, information about voting is taken from the voters. In this survey, voters are asked who they have voted for. What is the trend at their booth. In exit poll, an attempt is made to draw conclusions through trends. After polling, by talking to the voters, it is estimated what the result can be on which seat. The information given by the voters is analyzed. After this, a data is prepared, which is called exit poll. In exit poll, it is estimated which candidate or political party is winning where.
Are exit polls accurate?
Now the question arises whether the results of exit polls always prove to be accurate? So the straight answer is no. It is not necessary that the exit poll data matches the final result. Exit polls sometimes prove to be correct and sometimes wrong. There have been many such occasions in history when questions have been raised on the credibility of exit polls. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, most of the exit poll predictions proved to be correct. In 2019, most exit polls showed a clear majority for the NDA. The results also confirmed it. Exit polls were conducted for the first time in India in 1957.
