Staged drama ‘Chandalika’ under Jaipur Natya ceremony

The drama ‘Chandalika’ was staged on Friday as part of the Jaipur Natya ceremony at Rangayan Auditorium of Jawahar Kala Kendra. The story of this famous drama is written by Rabindranath Tagore and theatrical adaptation and directed by Om Prakash Saini. Testing the definition of social evils, self-esteem and love, this drama depths the audience deeply. On the last day of the ceremony, the drama ‘Before the veil rise’, directed by Himanshu Jhankal, will be staged on the last day of the ceremony.

The play begins with robbers in Dinanath’s house in a Chandal township. The robber robs jewelry and valuables from their house and burns the house to ashes.
Hearing this, the heroine of the drama Prakriti’s parents leave the house and village and go somewhere away. Prakriti’s mother tells him that she comes from a community whose people run away from the shadow. In such a situation, he will have to keep distance from the people of the alleged upper class. Natural is big and takes care of his mother’s taught matter, but one day Lord Buddha’s disciple Anand comes near Prakriti in search of water, at that time Prakriti, who is filled with water from the well, refuses to give water to his mother, but she agrees when the monk preachs.

After this account, Prakriti feels a love for Anand and that caste is freed from the bondage and insists from her mother that she brought Anand to her with magical tantric mantras and even after not wanting, the mother is forced to do so. In this activity, the mother of nature dies, but due to the effect of mantras, Anand reaches there in the oppressed condition. Seeing such a terrible situation, nature reminds that love is not an object found with stubbornness. She apologizes to the Buddhist monk for her actions and begs her mother alive. In the end, Buddhist monks remain calm and come out on their path with spiritual power with spiritual power.

Along with this, another scene was presented in the drama in which a prince reaches the well in search of water where nature is filling water but he describes the prince’s asking for water, but the prince is fascinated by the beauty of nature and behaves for force. In such a situation, Prakriti’s mother blinds her with magical mantras and saves her daughter. Chandalika drama is not only the story of a girl of an exploited class, but it is a deep attack on the casteist thinking settled in the end of the whole society. It is shown here that every person has equal right to respect, love and identity, even if he is of any caste or class.
