Stock Market Close: Tuesday’s trading session in the Indian stock market was quite volatile. Selling was seen in large cap shares during the trading day. At the same time, there was buying in midcap and smallcap shares. BSE Sensex fell 361 points or 0.50 per cent to 72,470 points and Nifty50 index fell 92 points or 0.42 per cent to 22,004 points. There was also selling in banking stocks and Bank Nifty fell 263.55 points or 0.56 percent to close at 46,600 points.
The number of shares falling in the market today’s trading day was high. The Nifty Midcap index closed at 47,807 points, up 494 points or 1.05 per cent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 15,118 points, up 61 points or 0.41 per cent. Today, shares of Auto, IT, Fin Service, Pharma, FMCG, Media and Private Bank closed with pressure. Shares of PSU, Metal, Realty, Energy and Infra have closed with a rise.

In the Sensex pack, Bajaj Finance, L&T, NTPC, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, HCL Tech, Nestle and Tata Steel closed higher. Whereas, ITC, Titan Company, HUL, Sun Pharma, Sun Pharma, JSW Steel, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank, SBI, M&M, Reliance, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Asian Paints, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Wipro, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid closed in the red.
