Stock Market Close: The Indian stock market closed in the red in Monday’s trading session. Sensex fell 616 points or 0.83 per cent to 73,502 and Nifty fell 160 points or 0.72 per cent to 22,332. Big selling was seen in banking stocks today and Bank Nifty fell 507 points or 1.06 percent to close at 47,327 points.
The number of falling shares on NSE was high in today’s session. 407 shares closed in green mark and 1858 shares closed in red mark. There was selling in auto, IT, PSU, fin services, FMCG, metal, realty, media, energy and infra stocks. At the same time, a slight rise was seen in pharma shares.

Nestle, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, TCS, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra closed in the green. Power Grid, Tata Steel, SBI, IndusInd Bank, HUL, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, NTPC, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra, Infosys, L&T, ITC, Reliance, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Maruti Suzuki, Titan Company, Axis Bank, Shares of M&M, Wipro, JSW Steel and HCL Tech closed in the red.
Mixed trading in global markets
The declining trend in global markets continues. The markets of Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok and Seoul closed down. At the same time, the markets of Jakarta, Shanghai and Hong Kong closed higher. American markets closed in the red on Friday. A decline is also being seen in European markets today. Crude oil continues to rise. Brent crude was trading at $82.33 per barrel, up 0.34 percent or $0.26, and WTI crude was at $78.27 per barrel, up 0.32 percent or $0.26.
