Islamabad: A terrible flood in Afghanistan has killed 15 people. Out of these, 10 people are said to be members of the same family. This flood came suddenly due to heavy rains in the north-eastern region of Afghanistan. At least 15 people, including 10 members of the same family, have died in the flood, causing panic in the area. Afghan officials gave this information on Sunday. Unusually heavy seasonal rains are wreaking havoc in many parts of the country, killing hundreds of people.
Flash floods triggered by the heavy rains have also destroyed property and crops. The floods on Saturday night hit northeastern Badakhshan and northern Baglan provinces. Life in Baglan province was badly affected due to heavy rains earlier this month. Mohammad Akram Akbari, director of the Natural Disaster Management Department in Badakhshan, said a couple and their eight children died in floods in the provincial capital Faizabad.

He did not give further details on the death toll. However, a local official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said rescue teams in the province had so far found five bodies. (AP)
