Sumit Nagal
Indian tennis superstar Sumit Nagal will be the player to participate in the men’s singles main draw of the third Grand Slam Wimbledon to be held this year. This will be the first time since 2019 that an Indian will be seen playing in the singles draw of Wimbledon. Earlier in 2019, Prajnesh Gunneswaran was the last player from the country to play in this event, who was defeated by Canadian player Milos Raonic 6-7, 4-6 and 2-6 in the opening round itself. Nagal has previously participated in the qualifying round of Wimbledon in 2018, in which he had to face defeat in straight sets at the hands of Polish player Ramil Majchrzak.
Nagal is preparing to play in French Open
Sumit Nagal has just arrived to participate in the French Open which will be played from 26 May to 9 June. Earlier this month, Sumit had to face defeat in the first round of the Geneva Open. Now Nagal will be looking to make a good start in the French. Recently, Nagal had posted a post on the social media platform X, in which world number 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic was also with him. Nagal wrote in his post that a great practice session before the start of the French Open. Nagal has been seen performing brilliantly on the tennis court so far.
Nagal is currently at 94th place in ATP ranking.
If we look at Sumit Nagal’s ranking in ATP, he is currently at number 94. At one time Nagal was out of the top-500 players in this ranking. Nagal had entered the top-100 earlier this year by winning the Chennai Open. Nagal’s career best ranking so far has been 80, on the basis of which he had also qualified for France Open 2024.
