Supreme Court News: Supreme Court's big decision for lawyers, now they will not have to pay more fees than this

Advocate Enrolment Fee: The Supreme Court has given a big decision on the enrollment of lawyers. The court has told the Bar Council that it cannot charge more than the fixed fee for enrollment of lawyers. The Supreme Court bench has clearly said that since the Parliament has fixed the enrollment fee, the Bar Council cannot violate it. Citing Section 24(1)(f), the court has said that this is a fiscal regulatory provision, so it should be followed. The Supreme Court said that the State Bar Council cannot charge more than the provision given in the Advocates Act for advocate enrollment. Let us tell you that in Section 24 of the Advocates Act, the fee for advocate enrollment has been fixed, under which the fee is fixed at Rs 750 for the general category and Rs 125 for ST SC, but it is alleged that the Bar Council of every state is charging fees ranging from 15 to 45 thousand from the lawyers for this.

What did the Supreme Court write in its decision
Hearing this case in the Supreme Court, the decision given by CJI DY Chandrachud said that charging excessive fees as a pre-condition for enrollment creates obstacles in pursuing their profession, especially for those belonging to weaker sections. In such a situation, the candidates are left with no option, so they are forced by the Bar Council.

Which case was being heard?
