Women were urged to join the government, dozens of flights were taken late on Monday night
Kabul, Aug 17 (IANS) | Two days after the Taliban captured Kabul, the militant group on Tuesday urged Afghan government employees to return to work in an effort to restore normalcy in the capital. While announcing the general apology, the Taliban urged everyone to resume their normal life with confidence, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Taliban also urged women to join its government. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that the situation in Kabul was completely under control and law and order had been restored in the city. Mujahid reiterated that people’s life and property are safe. There are reports that the Taliban have arrested around 200 people involved in the looting of government properties and vehicles.
Mujahid said the Taliban leadership has ordered its members and “once again instructed them that no one is allowed to enter anyone’s home without permission.” No one’s life, property and honor will be harmed. According to nearby residents, late on Monday, military transport planes resumed flight operations from Kabul airport and dozens of flights were operated. The planes were evacuating foreigners and some of their Afghan workers.
Flight operations were suspended on Monday morning after thousands of Afghans arrived at the airport to flee Kabul. Taliban members took control outside Kabul airport on Monday, while thousands of US forces were helping to clear a crowd. At least 10 Afghans were killed in stampedes and gunfire inside the airport within the past two days. Also on Monday the offices of the Afghan Ministry of Public Health and Kabul Municipality were reopened. Small shops were also reopened around the city, while banks and business centers remained closed until Tuesday morning.
