Doctors say that if you know how TB bacteria attacks you and makes you sick, then you can avoid this disease by taking precautions.
Bacteria enter through these 2 parts of the body.
Dr. Urvashi B Singh, Professor in the Department of Microbiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, says that TB is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The biggest thing to know is that this bacteria does not enter your body by touching hands, feet, eyes or anything or by eating anything. Rather, it enters through two parts of the face, nose and mouth.
Whenever you breathe air and if TB bacteria are present there, it will enter you through your nose or mouth. This bacteria floats in the air and enters the lungs when inhaled. If the bacteria is very strong and your body’s immunity is very weak, then it reaches other parts of the body also.
And extra pulmonary TB occurs.
Dr. Ananth Mohan, HOD of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine of AIIMS, says that when TB bacteria turn towards other organs instead of the lungs, then extra pulmonary TB occurs. That is, in that situation, TB bacteria reaches anywhere in the brain, liver, kidney, bladder, bones, stomach, skin and uterus and causes the disease.
However, in 70 percent of cases, TB occurs in the lungs because it is the most common and TB starts from here. After this it spreads to other organs and becomes extra pulmonary TB.
There is a way to escape
Dr. Urvashi says that TB spreads through the nose and mouth, but no person can stop breathing, but can definitely take some precautions, so that TB can be prevented from spreading.
The most effective way to prevent TB is mask. Whenever you go to crowded places, wear a mask because you do not know whether a TB patient has coughed or sneezed around you. However, by doing this you can avoid this infection to a great extent. Apart from this, it is very important to eat nutritious food and drinks to keep the immunity strong.
Be careful of these 5 symptoms
It takes some time for TB infection to develop into TB disease. Therefore, if precautions are taken by identifying the symptoms at the time of infection, TB disease can be avoided. For this, keep these 5 symptoms in mind.
, Mild fever lasting more than two weeks.
, The cough lasts for more than two weeks.
, Cough comes with mucus and blood in it.
, There is pain in the chest.
, Weight started decreasing.
Dr. Ananth Mohan says that if any patient experiences these 5 symptoms, he should immediately go to any DOT center and get tested for TB and get free medicines. No money has to be paid for its treatment and these medicines are always available in both villages and cities. Awareness is very important to eradicate TB from its roots.
