New Delhi. Instant messaging app WhatsApp introduced the Communities feature in the app last year, which allows users to create different groups on a specific topic within a community. For example, if there are four groups related to the study, all members of these groups can be brought together within a community. This makes the work easier for the admin, because they do not have to post again and again in every group. The Community feature ensures privacy by not displaying members’ details to each other. Currently, WhatsApp is working on a new feature for the community, as reported by the website Wabetainfo, which closely follows WhatsApp developments. According to the information shared by the website, the company is working on the ‘Pin Event’ option for the community.
With the ‘Pin Events’ option, WhatsApp will automatically create an events column for users whenever admins schedule important calls or meetings within groups. This column will appear at the top of the Community option, showing which events the user wants to attend from which group. This feature aims to help users not miss important meetings or calls amid frequent messages in groups, preventing them from overlooking important information. The ‘Pin Event’ feature is currently available for Android beta testers. It can be rolled out for all users in the coming time.
Apart from this, WhatsApp is also working on many other features, including changes in username, user interface (UI), and passkey verification for iOS. The continued development and introduction of new features reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user experience and privacy on its platform.
