Barabanki. These days the social and political stir over the “Itwa scandal” in the district has intensified. The case is allegedly associated with a narrator of the Yadav community, which has now taken the form of ethnic tension and political protests. According to sources, some people belonging to the Brahmin community allegedly treated a Yadav story in Itwa town of Siddharthnagar district. This incident created a wave of resentment in the Yadav community, whose echo has now reached the sugarcane institute of Barabanki.
On Sunday, several special organizations demonstrated at the Barabanki Sugarcane Institute submitting a memorandum to the administration. Hundreds of people from the Yadav community participated in it, which was being led. Among them, farmer leader Lal Yadav, social worker Sunil Yadav, young leader Guddu Yadav. These leaders bluntly said from the stage that, “Our saints, our storyteres are humiliated, we will not sit silent. The administration should immediately take action against the culprits or else there will be agitation in the entire state.”
What were the demands in the memorandum?
The protesters made the following major demands in the memorandum submitted to the administration. Special instructions to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future, an impartial investigation of the incident with the narrator, immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits.
Active role of police and administration to maintain social goodwill
Political parties have also started to fly this entire issue. Leaders of many regional parties have made statements in support of the Yadav society. Some have called it a fight for “Brahminism vs. Backward Class”, while some have described it as administrative failure.
So far no official statement has been revealed by the administration. However, according to sources, the police has started investigating the matter and the people concerned are being questioned.
