However, the official said telecom operators have informally asked the department to look into the information leaked in the Cloudsec report. The claim appears to be a compilation of old data of telecom customers. This is not due to any disturbance or weakness in their system.

The cyber intelligence company associated with the government cyber security body Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) said the matter came to light on January 23.
