The era of diesel vehicles is now coming to an end. This is because the world’s largest automobile company Volvo produced its last diesel car this week. Now after this the company will never produce diesel vehicles. This step has been taken by the company to completely shift from petroleum-powered vehicles to electric by 2030.
XC90 was the company’s last diesel vehicle
The XC90 was the last diesel vehicle produced by the company. This car was manufactured at the company’s Torslanda plant in Sweden. XC90 is a luxury SUV segment car. Currently, this car is available in petrol version in all the major countries of the world.
The company said in a statement that now the time has come to say goodbye to diesel vehicles. At one time diesel vehicles were the main part of our sales. But today the trend has changed and the company’s focus is towards electric vehicles and understanding the needs of the customers, the company is preparing a fully electric portfolio along with hybrid. Further said that 34 percent of the company’s global sales are coming from electric cars. This is the future.
The car will be kept in the museum
XC90 is a very special car for Volvo company. After Chinese company Geely bought Volvo in 2010, the company made a comeback in the global markets in 2014 due to this car. The last diesel production unit of the Volvo XC90 car will be housed in the Volvo Museum opening in Gothenburg next month.
