Umesh Bhatkar, a resident of Tukum, Chandrapur town, was walking near the Ayyappa temple with his 11-year-old dog John at 6.30 am on January 10, 2013. John was hit by a loaded school bus near Gopal Milk Dairy. John died in the accident. The accident happened with bus number MH 40N 3766 of M/s Rahim Travels. After this, Bhatkar lodged a complaint with the police station. John’s postmortem was also done. The postmortem report proved that he died in an accident. Bhatkar had a long battle in court against the guilty travel company. In the end, the court ordered compensation.
After John’s death, the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Chandrapur ordered compensation for the accident. This dog named John used to work in Aarti Infra Company. In return Bhatkar was paid Rs 8,000 per month.John died due to the negligence of the school bus driver. As a result, Bhatkar suffered a loss of Rs 8,000 every month. Bhatkar demanded compensation from the bus owner and the insurance company. He tried a lot for this but to no avail. Eventually he knocked on the door of the court. The case went on for 8 years and finally he got justice.
