New Delhi. A five-year-old girl died last night after being run over by the wheels of a chariot during the annual festival at the famous Kottankulangara Devi Temple near Kollam, Kerala. Police gave this information on Monday. Police said that Kshetra, the daughter of a couple resident of Chavra, accidentally came under the big wheel of the chariot being pulled by the devotees, due to which she died. Police said, “The accident happened around 11.30 pm on Sunday night.” She had come to the temple with her parents.
Police said that a case has been registered in connection with the incident. He told that the incident happened in an open field where the chariot was being pulled. Police said, “Sometimes children also pull the rope tied to the chariot. It seems she fell accidentally.” The girl was taken to a nearby hospital by her parents and the police but could not be saved.

Suicide attempt in police station
In another incident in North Palakkad district of Kerala, a dramatic scene was witnessed at the police station on Sunday when a man sprinkled kerosene oil on himself and set the premises on fire. Police said that the person who attempted suicide has been identified as Rajesh (30). He attempted suicide at Alathur police station here in the afternoon.
The young man was in custody on the complaint of harassment
He suffered 90 percent burns and was taken to the nearby Taluk Hospital, from where he has now been sent to the Government Medical College. According to police, Rajesh set himself on fire, hours after he was called to the police station on the basis of a harassment complaint filed by a woman. However, the matter was resolved after discussion with both the parties, but after some time Rajesh came back to the police station and sprinkled kerosene oil on his body and set himself on fire. Police said that his condition is critical.
