The researchers of this study say that we already know that when tattoo ink is injected into the skin, the body perceives it as something foreign and our immune system becomes active. A large portion of the ink is carried away from the skin to the lymph nodes, where it accumulates. The consequences can be fatal. The study team found that diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a rapidly growing cancer that begins in white blood cells. Lymphoma is a rare disease that can kill people.
