Siddaramaiah will be CM of Karnataka, DK Deputy CM
Various discussions have started regarding the manner in which Siddaramaiah was sealed after a long tussle over the post of CM in Karnataka. This is because the party had given DK Shivakumar (News About DK Shivakumar) the responsibility of the Karnataka Congress. He was found as the ‘troubleshooter’ of the party on several occasions. Then when he got the responsibility of Karnataka PCC Chief, he performed it very well. The party registered a resounding victory under his leadership. After this it was believed that the high command would give him the responsibility of the Chief Minister. However, this did not happen.
Decision on Karnataka reminds me of Rajasthan’s script
After several rounds of meetings, Siddaramaiah prevailed. Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar met Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday. After this late night announcement was made to make Siddaramaiah the Chief Minister. After this political development, a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CPL) has been called in Bengaluru on Thursday evening. In which further strategy will be decided. And the swearing-in of the new Chief Minister will take place in Bengaluru on May 20. For which the party has stepped up preparations. However, after this decision, the question again remains the same, will Karnataka not see Rajasthan-like developments in the coming days? The party will remain united. What will be the stand of DK Shivkumar camp after this decision? The Congress leadership will have to keep an eye on all these challenges in the days to come.
How Gehlot became CM in 2018 in place of Pilot
This is because this decision in Karnataka brought back memories of the situation after the Rajasthan elections in 2018. At that time, Sachin Pilot, taking over the responsibility of the Rajasthan Congress President, made a grand comeback for the party in the assembly elections. Almost everyone felt that only Pilot would become the CM. This is because Gehlot was associated with the party organization at that time and maintained a front in Delhi. However, after the election results, the Congress high command decided to make Ashok Gehlot the CM after several rounds of discussion. Sachin Pilot was given the responsibility of the post of Deputy CM.
Again a continuous show of infighting in Rajasthan Congress
Pilot took over this responsibility at that time, but somewhere in his mind the pain of not being able to become CM was buried. Due to which many occasions came during the last 4 years when Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were seen coming face to face. In 2020, the time had come till the fall of the government. Not only this, there are elections in the state after a few months, even then both the stalwarts are making verbal attacks on each other. Due to which a situation of confusion was being created among the party workers and supporters. However, now there are reports that after the decision in Karnataka, the party leadership can now engage in the exercise of avoiding the tussle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.
Are Rajasthan-like conditions being created in Karnataka as well?
Even though the Congress leadership has taken a decision regarding the CM post in Karnataka. But the BJP did not miss the opportunity to attack it. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took a dig at the infighting going on inside the Congress. He accused the Congress high command of betraying DK Shivakumar like Sachin Pilot. Amit Malviya wrote in the tweet- ‘Sachin Pilot and DK Shivkumar have amazing similarities. Like Pilot, DKS helped the Congress come to power in Karnataka. But by betraying Sachin Pilot, the Gandhi family made a more docile and less ambitious Ashok Gehlot the chief minister of Rajasthan. Now Congress wants to remove DK Shivakumar after using it in the same way.
BJP leader made a clear gesture of ‘like a pilot’
Amit Malviya blamed the Gandhi family, especially Sonia Gandhi, for this. He said that Sonia Gandhi does not like any leader who is ambitious. The one who has his own strength and who can defeat the Gandhi brothers and sisters (Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi). In a veiled attack on the Congress high command, the BJP leader also wrote that DK Shivakumar is “too much” a Hindu for him. He is not against visiting temples and is not an atheist or a communist like Siddaramaiah. He accused the Congress of plunging Karnataka into instability and ruining the future of the state.
