Android 15 will be introduced at Google I/O 2024 to be held in May. This operating system of Google is currently in the testing phase. Many new features can be seen in Android 15. Google is going to add new features to the phone regarding the safety and data protection of users’ devices. One such feature has been spotted, in which the phone can be easily tracked if it is stolen or lost.
Find My Device
Usually, after stealing the phone, the thief switches off the phone, so that the device cannot be tracked. Google added the ‘Find My Device’ feature in Android many years ago, which tells the last location of the device. It was not possible to track location once the device was switched off. If the battery gets discharged after the phone is lost, the phone automatically switches off.
Will be tracked even when the phone is off
To overcome this problem, Google is going to add a new feature in Android 15, which will be able to track the device even when the phone is switched off. This Powered Off Finding API feature has been seen in the Android 15 build. According to the report of Android Police, this feature will work on the pre-computed Bluetooth beacon and Bluetooth controller system present in the device.
However, one thing is that this feature will not work in every smartphone working on Android 15. For this feature, it is necessary for the device to have corresponding hardware features. In such a situation, if Android 15 comes in an old smartphone, then this feature will not be able to work in it. According to this upcoming feature of Android, smartphone manufacturing companies can add such hardware feature in their upcoming devices. According to the reports coming out, this feature will be provided in Google Pixel 9 series. After this, this feature can be found in the upcoming Google or other Android smartphones.
