The Islamic Center of India has changed the timing of Friday prayers from mosques in view of Holi to maintain peace and harmony in the country. While appealing to the people, Maulanas have given advice regarding Holi and Shab-e-Barat. After this, at least 22 mosques in Lucknow, including some prominent mosques like Jama Masjid Idgah, Masjid Aishbagh, a Minara Masjid at Akbari Gate, Masjid Shahmina Shah and Masjid Chowk, have extended the Friday prayers after 1.30 pm.
Maulana Khalid Rashid, Imam of Islamic Center of India Farangi Mahal and Lucknow Idgah, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that since Holi, Shab-e-Barat and Juma are falling on the same day, keeping in mind the Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb of the country All efforts should be made to ensure peace.
He has appealed to extend the timing of Friday prayers in mosques and asked Muslims to offer prayers in mosques of their respective areas instead of going to other mosques on that day.
The Islamic Center of India has asked Muslims to visit mosques and graves of their loved ones and not to burst fireworks only after the time for playing Holi ends at 5 pm as Shab-e-Barat also falls on the same day.
It is worth noting that even four years ago, many festivals were held together and even then the clerics had changed the timing of Friday prayers to maintain peace and harmony.
