Khiladi (Naiduniya News). Last year, there was a lot of shine on the faces of the farmers due to the income of garlic. The area increased by the farmers in Rabi season from last year’s price has kept the shine of garlic this time, but has snatched the glow from the faces of the farmers. This time the income of garlic farmers is decreasing instead of doubling. Turns out to be a loss deal compared to a better profit. The cost is also not coming out.
Every year, farmers of Khiladi region enter Neemuch and Indore vegetable market with garlic. The farmer’s face gets glowing with the good price. Last year from January 15 to the end of February, garlic was sold at the rate of eight thousand rupees per quintal, due to which the farmers had become bat and bat with better production, but this time the farmer is feeling cheated. This year the prices are getting four times less than last year, due to which the farmers’ income has been clouded. Far from profit, farmers are not able to recover even the cost. Whereas in Malwa region, most of the garlic is still standing in the fields.
Bought seeds at the rate of five thousand, sold for six hundred rupees a quintal, a loss of 67 thousand
Khiladi farmer Shankarlal Khokar told that garlic was sown in three bighas of land. 83 thousand 190 rupees were spent in three bighas, including cropping, rotavator, garlic seed, seed drill, sowing, fertilizer, weed and insecticide, garlic transportation expenses from laborers, cut and mandi, while 29 quintals of garlic produced from three bighas The income from 60 kg was only 16 thousand 75 rupees. The expenditure incurred for garlic is not being reimbursed from the income received and the farmer has to bear a financial loss of Rs.67 thousand. On February 24, 30 cut garlic was sold by the farmer in the fruit vegetable market, Indore, which was sold for Rs 700 per quintal. On February 26, due to not getting the expected price, he turned to Neemuch Mandi with hope, but here also the clouds of indifference hovered and 15 katti 600 and eight katti fine goods were sold for Rs 250 per quintal.
Claims of doubling farmers’ income hollow
Farmer Sunil Jagirdar told that on January 28 last year, garlic was sold at the rate of eight thousand eight hundred rupees per quintal. This year the production has also been affected due to unfavorable weather. Due to this the prices have come down. It has become difficult to calculate the cost compared to last year. Last year, garlic, which was sold at Rs.8,000 per quintal, has been sold this time for only Rs.2400 per quintal. Wages have been more expensive this year than last year. Whereas the prices of garlic have come in the opposite position. The government’s claims of doubling farmers’ income are proving to be hollow. The government should take appropriate decisions in the interest of farmers, so that the economic backbone of the farmer remains strong.
This time the price is less than last year
This year, better garlic is being sold at the highest level ranging from five thousand to five and a half thousand rupees per quintal. During the same time period last year, it was around Rs.9000 per quintal. On Saturday, 11 thousand bags have arrived. It is difficult to tell how much old goods are coming. ,
