Guwahati, The Assam government on Monday announced a public holiday for the respective constituencies during the three-phase Lok Sabha elections in the state. In the notification issued on the orders of the Governor, public holidays have been declared in those areas on 19 April, 26 April and 7 May. Where voting is to be held on these dates under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Voting will be held in the state in the first phase on April 19 in five constituencies: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur.
The second phase of voting will be held on April 26 in five constituencies: Silchar, Karimganj, Diphu, Nagaon and Darrang-Udalguri.
Voting will be held in the remaining four constituencies – Guwahati, Dhubri, Barpeta and Kokrajhar in the third phase i.e. on May 7.
The order of the General Administration Department states that all government and non-government offices, urban local bodies, educational institutions, banks, tea gardens and commercial establishments including industries falling within the jurisdiction of these seats will remain closed on the polling days. .
However, in many states, the government declares a holiday on the day of voting, so that every citizen of the country can go to vote without any hindrance or hindrance. In many states, there is so much joy on the voting day, because the voting day is no less than a festival for them.
