New Delhi. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday (31 March), said that this election is not a normal election. He emphasized that this election is about democracy, the Constitution, saving the poor and farmers. He alleged that match fixing is being done here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fixing matches before the elections. Rahul Gandhi remarked that though Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren were not physically present, they were with him in spirit.
Welcoming all the workers of ‘INDIA’ alliance, he compared the present political scenario to cricket matches, where match fixing is done by buying off umpires and intimidating captains to win the match. He claimed that before our team’s match, two players of his team (Kejriwal and Soren) had fixed the match and sent them to jail.
During the rally, Rahul Gandhi also raised questions on the reliability of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). He taunted PM Modi by accusing him of trying to fix matches in this election. He argued that crossing the 180 mark is not possible without EVM and social media manipulation. He stressed that the 400 seats mark cannot be crossed without EVM management.

Rahul Gandhi also talked about the issue of freezing the bank accounts of the Congress Party. He stressed that Congress is the largest opposition party in the country and all their bank accounts have been closed. He criticized the government for closing bank accounts during elections and claimed that the money was being used to topple the government. He said that the day the Constitution is destroyed, India will cease to exist, because the Constitution represents the voice of the people.
Referring to the statement of Karnataka BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde, Rahul Gandhi alleged that his MP is saying that as soon as they win 400 seats, they will change the Constitution. Rahul Gandhi stressed that the Constitution cannot be controlled by police or intimidation. He warned that if the Constitution was not respected, India would be divided into separate states. Criticizing the use of police, CBI and ED to intimidate leaders, he said that the voice of the people cannot be suppressed.
Rahul Gandhi also raised questions on the benefits of demonetization and implementation of GST and said that no one benefited from these policies.
