India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather forecast on Saturday (30 March) that while there is a possibility of heatwave in some states of the country in the beginning of April, there may be rain in some states. According to the department, moderate to severe storm activity is expected to continue in north-west, central and eastern India. Meanwhile, heavy rains and storms are expected in Northeast India till April 1, 2024, while heat wave is likely to occur at isolated places in Telangana on April 1 and 2, 2024. Along with this, heat wave conditions will prevail at different places in Rayalaseema from April 1 to 4, 2024. Heat wave is also likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and North Interior Karnataka during April 2 to 4, 2024.
Somewhere there will be heat wave and somewhere else there will be heavy rain.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of scattered rainfall in Central India, while heavy rain has been predicted in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. IMD has issued a warning of rain with thunderstorm for Odisha and Bihar.
According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions are expected to prevail in Central and Peninsular India for the next 3 to 5 days. Along with this, the maximum temperature is expected to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius in many parts of North-West India in the next three days, after which the temperature will increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
According to the department, in the next 2 to 3 days, the maximum temperature will increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in many parts of Central Eastern India, after that there will be no significant change in the weather. Moreover, a similar increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures is expected over many parts of south peninsular India in the next five days.
Heat wave conditions are expected to persist in isolated areas in different regions from March 31 to April 3. Among these, heat wave conditions may persist in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha from March 31 to April 1, North Interior Karnataka on March 31, Telangana and Rayalaseema from March 31 to April 3.
Impact of western disturbance will be visible
Additionally, hot night conditions are expected over isolated parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada till April. Besides, hot and humid weather is expected over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh till April 3.
IMD has indicated that in the next 4 to 5 days, the maximum temperature in many areas of Odisha is expected to be between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, while in the coastal districts the temperature may remain between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of the next western disturbance affecting the Western Himalayan region from April 3, 2024.
