Mohit Bhavsar/Shajapur:In the premises of Government Excellent School of Shajapur, two bottle brush trees, which have become synonymous with the beauty of nature, have been beautifying the entire campus for 30-40 years. These trees are planted on both sides of the school building. People passing by there become admirers after seeing its bright red flowers. During a conversation with the Local 18 team, teacher Omprakash Patidar said that this tree with bright red brush-like flowers is an evergreen tree native to Australia. Bottlebrush is known for its beautiful, drooping branches. Its drooping branches have bright red or Flowers with yellow stamens are produced in clusters resembling round brushes. Most bottlebrushes grow about 5 to 12 feet tall, with some mature trees reaching more than 30 feet in height.
Teacher Omprakash Patidar said that this tree usually flowers in spring and summer and attracts birds and insects that collect nectar. They are a particular favorite of bees and birds. The scientific name of this tree is Callistemon lanceolatus. This tree gets its name from its cylindrical flower spikes, which look like a bottlebrush. It is an evergreen tree. Which is grown for ornamental purposes. This tree is found in different parts of India and is well adapted to different climatic conditions.
This tree is important for ecology
Teacher Mr. Patidar told the Local 18 team that the bottle brush plant grows well in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It can tolerate a temperature range of 5 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for various climatic conditions.
The flowers of this tree attract bees and butterflies.
According to teacher Omprakash Patidar, it is known to attract pollinators like bees, butterflies and birds, which help in cross-pollination of other plants in the area. This tree is also known to improve soil quality by fixing nitrogen, which enhances the growth of other plants in the area. Its beautiful flowers are a rich source of nectar for bird species that collect nectar. The tree’s dense Leaves provide shelter to birds and small animals. Due to which it becomes an important habitat for them. Insects such as bees and butterflies are also attracted to the tree’s flowers, making it an essential food source for them.
Provides relief from many diseases
Om Prakash Patidar further explains that the bottle brush plant is useful in removing many physical disorders like leucorrhea and for cleaning during epidemics. Children who urinate on the bed.
