Kondagaon. A one-day district union level branching training workshop was organized by District Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation, Maryadit Dakshin Forest Division, Kondagaon in the auction hall woodwork. In this workshop, while giving necessary instructions regarding tendu leaf collection, pre-branching work, tendu leaf collection, transportation, storage and payment, the Forest Division District Magistrate, ex-officio Managing Director Uttam Kumar Gupta was informed about the detailed guidelines regarding fire protection to the forests. On this occasion, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Circle Officer, Feeding Officer, Phad Custodian, Manager, Board of Directors of Phadmunshi Committee and other villagers present in the workshop were told by the Forest Divisional Officer regarding the tendu leaf branching work in the year 2022. Which is called Buta Katai Tihar in the local language. Buta harvesting The small plants of tendu leaves called buta in Tihar. Cutting them from the ground surface with a sharp weapon is called Shakkartan. This year Buta Katai Tihar will be celebrated from 3rd to 5th March 2022.
During this, instructions have been given to do branching work in all the branches of all committees of the forest division, so that the work of plucking tendu leaves can be started on the same date after about 40-50 days of branching. This decision has been taken on the basis of the consent of all the managers, Phadmunshi, dignitaries, forest divisional officers, employees present in the workshop. So that this year high quality tendu leaves can be collected in Dakshin Kondagaon forest division as well as tendupatta collectors can get proper tendupatta bonus due to sale of tendu leaves in profit.
270 participants included
In District Union, out of total 11 lots in South Kondagaon, advance sale has been done in four lots. Departmental purchase will be done in the remaining seven lots. In the workshop, 270 participants including all the officers, employees and managers, Phadmanshis, Board of Directors of the committee participated.
An appeal has been made by the Forest Department to all the tendu leaf collectors and the dignitary villagers to make the tendu leaf harvesting campaign in a big way so that good quality tendu leaves are prepared so that the villagers can get maximum benefit from it.
