In order to find out the reason for the defeat of the Congress in the Punjab Assembly elections, party in-charge Harish Chaudhary on Tuesday interacted with the candidates of Malwa and engaged in brainstorming about the reasons for the defeat. The meeting of Malwa zone one each started on Tuesday afternoon at the party headquarters in which Navjot Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi were also present as party chiefs. In the review meeting, Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa made a big attack on Sidhu. Said that the thumping clap hit the Congress itself.
On Tuesday, the Punjab Congress held a review meeting regarding the reasons for the defeat. In this meeting, all the Congress leaders in one voice put the blame of the defeat on the heads of state in-charge Harish Chaudhary, Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi. Everyone said that the unnecessary rhetoric of these people has made this condition of Congress.
Harish Chaudhary sold tickets: Angry Congressman
However, before this, the Congress candidates were anticipating that they would keep their point openly in the meeting and Sidhu-Channi would not participate in it. Most of the lost candidates are now openly saying that no one else is responsible for the defeat. The rhetoric of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sunil Jakhar has turned water, due to which now the Congress is finding it difficult to save its existence. Some leaders are accusing Harish Chaudhary, in-charge of Punjab affairs and earlier in-charge Harish Rawat, for this trouble that Chaudhary sold Congress tickets. While living in Chandigarh, he took care of himself without worrying about the party and kept the high command in the dark.
I am responsible for the defeat: Harish Chowdhary
Harish Chaudhary said before the start of the meeting that he was responsible for the defeat and the reasons for the defeat would be ascertained by holding talks in the one to one meeting of the candidates of Malwa region. Said, I will personally talk to every candidate. Being in charge, the responsibility of defeat is also mine. Disappointment and distrust was clearly visible on the face of every candidate due to the defeat of Congress in the state. He has as much resentment towards the party high command as he is towards the state leadership.
Thoko Tali hit Congress: Randhawa
Party MPs are also blaming Sidhu and Channi for the defeat. Sukhjinder Randhawa, who saved his seat with great difficulty, went so far as to say that Thko Tali (Sidhu) thumped the Congress. He even put the blame of killing the party on Sidhu for the defeat. Another minister Rajinder Tript Bajwa said that Sidhu is neither ready to go with anyone nor listen to anyone and in real sense, no one has any control over him.
Everyone took out their anger in the meeting
In the review meeting, there was a competition to take out anger against Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi in everyone’s mind. From MP Ravneet Bittu to Amritsar MP Aujla, everyone blamed Sidhu and Channi. In the meeting itself, Jakhar even demanded to choose the leader of the legislature party through votes and urged to choose a credible and credible face from the party instead of handing over the headship to an outsider.
Jakhar said in the meeting that the time has come that instead of misleading Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the time has come to make the leaders sitting in the Rajya Sabha aware of the right thing. Flattery has brought the Congress to this condition. Those who understand the culture of Congress should be made party chief. Now instead of troubling the past, the Congress should look ahead and take the right decisions. Significantly, the Congress lost badly in all the five states and could win only two seats in Uttar Pradesh. The Aam Aadmi Party won in Punjab and the BJP in the remaining four states.
