Peshawar: The banned Pakistani Taliban terrorist organization on Wednesday released an alleged video of four workers who were kidnapped last month. In the video, the hostages are seen pleading with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure their release. The police has given information about this entire matter. It may be recalled that recently Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had warned that the Afghanistan-based hideouts of the banned organization Harkat-e-Taliban Pakistan could also be targeted under the anti-terrorism campaign launched by the army.
was kidnapped on 29 June
At least 13 labourers working on high-tension power lines in Tank district of the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province were kidnapped by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants on June 29. Though police rescued nine workers within hours of the abduction, four are still being held hostage. The video was released by a lesser-known TTP-affiliated organisation ‘Aldam Beldam’, in which spokesperson Khalid is also seen in the video footage.
Workers pleaded for release
Police said that in the video, the labourers were seen handcuffed and blindfolded. The labourers were sitting on the ground and requesting the Punjab Chief Minister to intervene and ensure their safe release. Each labourer identified themselves and confirmed that they were being held hostage by the Taliban. They expressed fear for their lives if the terror group’s demands were not met. The labourers requested the Punjab Chief Minister to accept the TTP’s demands to ensure their freedom. TTP’s demand for the release of the labourers has not been made public yet. All the four abducted labourers are residents of Chishtian district of Punjab province. (Language)
