New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh Ujjain, which is known in the country as Mahakal city, has come to the fore of a Muslim youth burning his face with acid and threatening to kill him for refusing to befriend a Hindu girl. Shoaib Shaikh, an employee of the Maruti Suzuki workshop, stole the girl’s mobile number from the job sheet and started harassing her at night through phone calls and text messages. With the help of Bajrang Dal workers, the girl has lodged an FIR with the police on this subject. Accused Shoaib Sheikh absconded after the FIR was registered.
The girl said in the recorded report that “My sister and I went to put the Suzuki Scooty for servicing at the Maruti Suzuki showroom located on Dewas Road on 15th April. Shoaib Sheikh, the employee there from the showroom, took out the mobile numbers of both of us from the workshop job sheet and started harassing us by calling and sending messages on WhatsApp at 12 o’clock in the night for friendship. Apart from this, outside the private office where I work, he used to stand in the morning and evening and followed me till my house. Apart from this, on 16th April evening, he forcibly stopped me on the way and held my hand with bad intention and said that let’s go for a walk somewhere, I refused to go, then Shoaib said that you did not talk to me or hang out with me. If you don’t go, I will pour acid on your face and kill you.” In this case, police officer Manish Lodha says that on the complaint of the girl, under sections 354,354 (d), 341 and 506 of IPC 1860, an FIR has been registered against the accused Shoaib Sheikh and investigation has been started. Shoaib Sheikh is still absconding. Soon he will be caught and appropriate action will be taken.
On the other hand, Ujjain Bajrang Dal officer Ankit Choubey said, “Shoaib Sheikh, who worked in Maruti Suzuki Workshop, stole the numbers given by the girl in the job sheet and started sending obscene messages. Through messages and calls, he pressurized the girl for friendship. When the girl refused, he threatened to burn her face with acid. We have spoken to the manager of Maruti Suzuki about this and have instructed him to keep a check on his employees. Registering a case with the police in the matter has also demanded strict action at the earliest.
