Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also chair a high level meeting on Ukraine crisis today. Various aspects of the current situation will be discussed in this meeting. Senior officials will attend this meeting. On Sunday too, Prime Minister Modi had held a similar meeting and directed to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian students on top priority. Ukraine’s airspace closed after Russian attack. Because of this, India is evacuating its citizens trapped in Ukraine through border posts with Romania, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The Indian Embassy in Ukraine advised citizens to reach the railway station in Kyiv.
The Indian Embassy has asked Indian citizens to move to the western parts of Ukraine. Indian officials in the western cities of Ukraine will help in their evacuation. Earlier on Monday itself, Prime Minister Modi had held a high-level meeting in which it was decided to give the responsibility of coordinating the safe evacuation of Indians by reaching Ukraine’s neighboring countries to four Union Ministers.
According to the decision taken by the central government, Kiren Rijiju will coordinate with the governments there in Slovakia, Hardeep Puri in Hungary, VK Singh in Poland while Jyotiraditya Scindia in Romania and Moldova. PM Modi has asked to ensure the safe and early return of Indians.
