Bhilai. There is anger among the employees due to the meeting between the central union and the management held in Delhi to fulfill the wage agreement of the employees in the country’s leading steel producer SAIL. While the management maintained its old stand in the NJCS meeting, the union was also upset with this behavior of the management. Management is still not in favor of giving 3 percent fixed increment benefit. Once again the management has given a clear indication of this in the meeting.
The union, which had agreed to the agreement in October, is now threatening to fight from the ground to the court, frustrated with the management. At the same time, the management has been successful in implementing the agreement after taking approval from the Ministry of Steel. In the present situation, along with the union which agreed to the agreement, the union which chose the path of strike by not compromising is also seen on the back foot.
Weapon made to scale of E-Zero
Management has once again used the e-zero scale to limit the scale of employees. According to the DPE guideline, the pay scale of the employees cannot exceed that of the officers. In this way, the management has kept the pay scale of junior officers up to Rs.30,000.
Due to which the highest pay scale of the employees has also been fixed to be below Rs.30,000. In this way the management has made it clear that this matter is not going to be resolved soon by indicating increase in the pay scale of S-11 by Rs 85000.
E-Zero Pay Scale Less Than Miniratna
Union leaders say that while the management maintains a pay scale at par with Maharatna companies for all grades from grade E-1. On the other hand, the pay scale of junior officers has been deliberately kept at the lowest level to limit the interests of the employees.
At present, the starting position of junior officers in SAIL is at par with basic Maharatna companies, even less than Mini Ratna Ferro Scrap Nigam Limited, which is doing its work in SAIL itself. It is worth noting that the pay scale of Junior Officers in Ferro Scrap Corporation Limited is starting from Rs.
Union not in a position to respond on gratuity
The management in SAIL, after the permission of the Ministry of Steel, has implemented the order limiting the gratuity of the employees. At the same time, the union has not been able to decide the plans of its protest. Expect a discussion on this subject from the management, the unions have been disappointed due to non-discussion on this subject in the NJCS meeting.
The same employees are once again remembering the experience of partial gratuity ceiling in 2014 and they are apprehensive that this time too the union will allow it to be implemented without protesting.
