West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the central government of misusing central agencies. He has also appealed to non-BJP leaders to unite. It is reported that he has written letters to the Chief Ministers of many states to stand against the Bharatiya Janata Party. Apart from this, he has also called a meeting regarding the action of the agencies. At present, due to the Birbhum violence, there is a political dispute in Bengal.
According to media reports, he said that the opposition should unite to hold the ruling government accountable. “It is our constitutional responsibility as the opposition party to hold this government accountable for its actions and oppose suppressing the voice of dissent. I appeal to all to come together for the meeting at one place, as per convenience, so that the way forward can be considered. It is the need of the hour that all the progressive forces of this country come together and fight this oppressive force.
She further wrote, ‘I am writing to express my concern over the direct attack on the institutional democracy of this country by the ruling BJP. Central agencies like ED, CBI, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), and Income Tax Department are being used to target, harass and weaken political rivals across the country for retaliation.
CM Banerjee made many allegations against the BJP. He said it is clear that BJP-ruled states get free passes from “these agencies to show a beautiful picture of their hollow governance”. He also said that the BJP is trying to attack the federal structure of the country by influencing certain sections of the judiciary.
