Azamgarh. In Uttar Pradesh, Azamgarh Police has busted a gang duping people in the name of marriage. Six people, including three women, were arrested late on Monday night.
Azamgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Anurag Arya said that Phulpur Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested Ashok Kumar, Shankar, Gulan Bharti, Aradhana, Reena Yadav alias Zeenat and Pooja Kumari of Ambedkar Nagar district from Ambari crossroads. .
The gang came under the radar of Azamgarh police after Satbir Prajapati of Hisar district in Haryana lodged an FIR with Phulpur police on Sunday alleging that Aradhana had called him to arrange the marriage of her brother.
The gang charged Rs 60,000 for arranging the marriage and provided them with fake Aadhar cards and marriage certificates.
They later fled with the jewelery and cash kept for the bride, police said.
The police is now trying to trace the criminal history of the members of this gang.
