Lucknow. The eyes of UP CM Yogi Adityanath have now turned towards the unrecognized madrassas of the state. He has issued instructions to conduct survey of all such madrasas. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had expected this from the UP government. This information was given by the Minister of State for Minority Welfare, UP, Danish Ansari. According to Ansari, in this survey all the information including the source of income of the madrasa, its affiliation with the non-government organization, number of students, drinking water, electricity, toilet facilities, furniture, number of teachers have to be collected. The minister said that the process of recognizing the madrasas which will be found according to the standards in this survey will be started. Right now it is just a matter of gathering information.
According to the figures available with the UP government, there are a total of 16461 madrassas in the state. Of these, only 560 get government grants. Madarsas opened in the last 6 years have not been included in this grant list. Minister Danish Ansari also told that in the madrasas which are getting grants, now in case of any dispute in the management committee or in the absence of any member of the committee, the principal and district minority welfare officer of the madrassa will be able to give appointment there from the deceased dependent quota. Ansari also told that now on the application of the teachers and other employees of the madrassas which get government help, the transfer can also be done with the consent of the management of the madrassa and with the approval of the registrar of the state madrasa education council.
He also informed that women employees in madrasas will also get maternity leave and child care leave under the rules of the Department of Secondary Education and Basic Education. Diwan Saheb Zaman, General Secretary of Teachers Association Madaris Arabiya has welcomed these decisions. According to Zaman, teachers and employees of madrassas receiving grants from this will be greatly benefited.
