Lucknow. Yogi government is developing horticulture as a major source of income for the farmers. The state government will increase the area of horticulture crops by 4.95 lakh hectares in the next five years so that the production will increase and the income of the farmers will increase. This will increase the export of fruits, as well as give a boost to food processing and employment opportunities will also increase. Yogi government is constantly trying to increase the income of the farmers. Continuous steps are being taken in this direction. The state government has prepared an action plan to increase the area under horticulture crops to 4.95 lakh hectares in the next five years. The area under horticulture crops will be increased from 11.6 per cent to 16 per cent. The area under horticulture crops will be expanded by promoting fruit, vegetable and spice crops in the state.
Drip and sprinkler use for irrigation will be increased from 2.64 per cent to 9 per cent in the next five years. The area under drip and sprinkler irrigation will be expanded to 10 lakh hectares. For this, about 8 lakh farmers will be given a grant. Along with this, training will be given to 50 thousand farmers in the production of fruits and vegetables, mushrooms etc. With the increase in the area of horticulture, the production of fruits and vegetables will increase.
This will increase the export of crops like mango. Along with this, the government will increase the level of food processing from 06 percent to 20 percent. For this, incentives will be given to mega food processing units and infrastructure facilities will be developed. Through this, the government will develop horticulture as a major source of income for the farmers. Also the food processing units will provide employment opportunities for the youth.
