BJP leader Smriti Irani has once again started making the same mistake in Amethi, due to which the local people used to get angry with the Gandhi family. People allege that the Gandhi family never gave time to the people here due to their busyness and used to get the work done through their subordinates. In such a situation, people could not have direct contact with the Gandhi family.
The identity of Amethi, located about 135 km from Lucknow, if felt internationally, is because of its association with the Gandhi family. Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have been winning this traditional seat of the Gandhi family. In such a situation, this seat was seen as an invincible fort for the Gandhi family. This was the reason why it became international news when BJP leader Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in his traditional seat in the last Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier in the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had indicated the weakening hold of the Gandhi family from here by winning three out of four assembly seats in Amethi. But perhaps the matter had become so bad that between 2017 and 2019, the Gandhi family could not handle it and in 2019 it had to face defeat.
However, local people believe that now the people of Amethi are once again looking towards the Gandhi family. He feels that the region used to have a distinct identity after being associated with the Gandhi family, which had weakened after the defeat of Rahul Gandhi in 2019. People feel that now that relationship should be revived.
This heartwarming connection is not the only reason behind it. Rather, it is believed that BJP leader Smriti Irani has once again started making the same mistake in Amethi, due to which the local people used to get angry with the Gandhi family. People allege that the Gandhi family never gave time to the people here due to their busyness and used to get the work done through their subordinates. In such a situation, people could not have direct contact with the Gandhi family.
Now people also say about Smriti Irani that all her work in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency is being done at the behest of a particular businessman. The workers are being neglected in the area, while some special people are running the party here by becoming close to Irani. If BJP does not remove this shortcoming in time, then it may have to bear the brunt of it in the coming elections.
Smriti Irani is constantly trying to make contact in this area. Even in the campaign of BJP candidates, he has taken command by landing directly on the field and has campaigned for each candidate. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi is also starting his election campaign in Amethi from Friday. In such a situation, it will be very interesting to see how many seats BJP or Congress gets in this assembly election. Even after the Lok Sabha elections are not held, a virtual tough competition can be seen between the two leaders here.
Polling in the fifth phase
Voting for 60 seats in 11 districts will be held on Sunday, February 27 in the fifth phase of the UP assembly elections. It also includes the assembly seats of Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, Amethi, Tiloi, Jagdishpur and Gauriganj. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had managed to win three of these seats. However, after the defeat of Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the equations here have changed a lot. In the changed circumstances, the Congress can once again become strong here.
Amethi (Assembly constituency number 186)- Congress, SP and BJP have been winning this prestigious seat in Amethi district. But in this stronghold of the Gandhi family, BJP’s candidate Garima Singh had won in the last election. They are from the local royal family, so they enjoy special popularity here. But the complaint of the local people has been that they never meet people and all their work is run through some party workers. In this election, BJP may have to face this image of Garima Singh. However, BJP has fielded Sanjay Singh from here in this election. This weakened the voices of protest.
Sanjay Singh is facing tough competition from Congress candidate Ashish Shukla. At the local level, Ashish Shukla is considered a popular leader of a very clean image. His closeness to the Gandhi family is also the center of attraction here. Rahul Gandhi has once again strengthened the hopes of Congress by campaigning in his favor.
Prajapati’s support to SP

Gayatri Prasad Prajapati was declared the candidate of SP in the last elections as well, but he had to face defeat at the hands of Garima Singh.
