Lucknow. Yogi government, which is rapidly increasing the health infrastructure and facilities in Uttar Pradesh with a population of 24 crores, is committed to provide better medical facilities. On one hand the State Government is establishing medical colleges in the districts and on the other hand it is emphasizing on the expansion of medical services in the major hospitals of the State. In order to provide better emergency services to the people of the state, Emergency Department and Trauma Center have been started at SGPGI, Lucknow. In the previous governments, the trauma center was only in KGMU, due to which the problem of frequent beds and treatment was not available and the maximum burden of referral cases fell on KGMU. In such a situation, on the initiative of Yogi government, the service of trauma center will be started in PGI, patients coming to SGPGI for treatment from other districts including Lucknow will get a lot of relief.
Keeping pace with technology, services like complex operations and transplants are being further strengthened in the hospital. The Trauma Center has been started at Sanjay Gandhi Post Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) by mid-November, increasing the facilities provided to the patients. Soon a 210-bed emergency department will also start in the hospital. With the introduction of 68-bed trauma center in the hospital, patients are not facing the problems related to admission. Patients from other districts come to SGPGI for treatment. In such a situation, patients will also get direct benefit from the emergency department that will be ready soon. They will get better facilities without worrying about other hospitals.
Dr RK Dhiman, Director, PGI said that the patients will be directly benefited by getting both the facilities in the hospital. Adequate number of beds in the soon to be ready emergency department will facilitate the process of referral and recruitment of local patients.
Emergency services improved
Along with SGPGI, most emergency recruitments are done in KGMU. Emergency recruitment is being done at three places here. Separate emergency services are being operated at Trauma Centre, Queenmary and Lowry Cardiology Department. After this, patients are getting timely treatment due to emergency services in Balrampur Hospital and Civil Hospital. Due to adequate number of beds in the emergency department, serious patients are being treated easily.
