Dehradun. After the year 2017, even in 2022, former Uttarakhand CM and Congress leader Harish Rawat has to face defeat in the assembly elections. From Lalkua assembly seat, BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht defeated him by more than 14 thousand votes. Congress had removed Harish Rawat from Ramnagar assembly seat and fielded Lalkuan seat, after which Lalkuan had become a hot seat. Let us tell you that Harish Rawat had contested on two seats in the 2017 assembly elections and lost. Even after this defeat, Harish Rawat’s grief has spread.
He said, “For me, the results are very surprising. I do not understand that after such heavy inflation, if this was the mandate of the people, then what would be the definition of public welfare and social justice? After this people who say BJP Zindabad I don’t understand. Our campaign strategy was inadequate and I accept it as the chairman of the campaign committee.”
Harish Rawat said, “Our attempt to win the hearts of the people of Uttarakhand was little. We were sure that people will vote for change, there must have been some lack in our efforts, I accept it and take the responsibility of the defeat. The people did a great job and I want to thank them. I could not win the trust of the people but I want to congratulate my daughter and all the candidates who won.”
Let us tell you that as the Chief Minister, Harish Rawat had contested the assembly elections from two seats (Haridwar Rural and Kichha) in the 2017 assembly elections, but he had to face defeat in both the seats. This time he contested from Lalkuan assembly near Haldwani in Nainital district and this time also the people of the state did not show trust in him and lost the election.
