Pilibhit. BJP has canceled the ticket of outgoing MP Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat of UP. In place of Varun Gandhi, BJP has given ticket to Jitin Prasad, a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government, from Pilibhit seat. BJP, which had rejected Varun Gandhi’s ticket, has given ticket to his mother Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur. Varun Gandhi and his mother Maneka Gandhi have maintained silence in this matter. There is a lot of discussion about what stance Varun Gandhi will take now.
Varun Gandhi continued winning from Pilibhit seat. Varun Gandhi, who won Pilibhit seat on BJP ticket in 2019, was also in the news for his statements going beyond the BJP line. Especially during the farmers’ movement, Varun Gandhi, like the opposition leaders, had given statements against the government. Varun Gandhi’s statements against CM Yogi were also a topic of discussion. However, seeing the Lok Sabha elections coming, Varun had recently participated in a meeting with BJP leaders and praised PM Narendra Modi in it. Even after this his ticket was canceled by the BJP leadership.
Recently there was news about Varun Gandhi that he has bought 4 sets of nomination papers. It seemed that he was preparing to contest elections from Pilibhit. There has also been discussion that Varun Gandhi may join the Samajwadi Party camp, but Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has fielded Bhagwat Saran Gangwar as his candidate from Pilibhit seat. Now Varun Gandhi has only two options. First of all, he should accept the wishes of BJP and work towards making party candidate Jitin Prasad win. The second option is to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Pilibhit as an independent or as a candidate of some other party. Now everyone’s eyes are on which of these two paths Varun Gandhi takes. The first round of Lok Sabha election voting is on April 19 in Pilibhit.
