New Delhi. A biryani vendor in northwest Delhi was seen serving his dish on disposable plates bearing the image of Lord Ram. Police said that plates with pictures of Lord Ram have been recovered from the seller’s shop. The matter came to light when local Hindu groups noticed plates bearing the deity’s image at a biryani shop on Saturday.
There were protests regarding this matter also. However, the police reached the spot and controlled the situation by assuring a thorough investigation of the matter. A senior police officer said, “As soon as the information was received, the shopkeeper was taken into custody. “A case was registered against him under section 107/151 of CrPC and he was later allowed to leave.”
A video showing the image of Lord Ram on a disposable plate went viral on social media. After this a crowd gathered near the shop. Seeing biryani being served on these plates, local people protested against the seller.
A police officer said, “Two plates printed with the picture of Lord Ram were found at a biryani shop. During investigation, it was revealed that the shopkeeper had purchased one thousand disposable plates from a factory and only four of them had the picture of Lord Ram. “This was also confirmed with the factory owner.”
Meanwhile, people shared the plate with the image of Lord Ram used by the seller on their X accounts. An ex-user Sandeep wrote, “He is doing this deliberately. He also knows that it is wrong, but he continues to serve biryani in a plate with the image of Lord Ram.”
Another X user Shilpa wrote, “Biryani was served on a plate with the image of Lord Ram in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Hindu organizations saw this and called the police. He saw that biryani was being served in plates which were thrown in the garbage after use. Please do not ask the name of the shop owner.”
