Former India Cricketer Vinod Kambli is once again in controversy. He was arrested by Mumbai Police on Sunday (27 February). However, he was later released on bail. Kambli has been accused of hitting a car at the gate of his residential society in Bandra, Mumbai. Even before Kambli, many players of the world have eaten the air of jail.
Kambli himself has gone to jail before. In 2015, along with him, his wife Andrea Hewitt was also accused by the maid of many. A case was registered against both. Kambli is angry by nature. Then there were allegations that he, along with his wife, had locked the maid in the room for three days. Kambli used to be in controversies even during his playing days.
Rubel Hussein: Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain was accused of rape by actress Nazneen Akhtar. Thereafter he was arrested. He was released on bail to participate in the 2015 World Cup after being in custody for three days. Rubel had led Bangladesh to a spectacular victory against England. For this reason Nazneen withdrew the charges from him.
Luke Pommersbach: The left-handed batsman from Australia was arrested on 9 August 2009 for driving under the influence of alcohol. After drinking alcohol, he attacked an officer. He then fled from legal custody. Later he confessed his crime. Pomersbach’s driving license was also revoked as a punishment. He was also fined. In May 2012, Pomersbach was accused of molesting a woman at an Indian hotel. He also attacked his fiancée. For this reason he was arrested. Later all charges against him were dropped as the matter was settled out of court.
Ben Stokes: England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes has also been involved in controversies. He was arrested in 2017 for assaulting outside a nightclub. Then Stokes had to spend a night in jail. Stokes was accompanied by Alex Hales. This all-rounder was ruled out of the match against West Indies. Earlier in 2012, Stokes was arrested in a similar incident.
